Insolvency

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1 – 5 year PQE Solicitor to join our Insolvency team based out of our Newcastle, Quayside office.

The role supports a well-established insolvency team delivering a wide range of services (contentious and non-contentious, personal and corporate), managing a caseload combining corporate restructuring transactional and advisory work with contentious personal and corporate insolvency matters.

This position offers a wide and varied workload coupled with excellent career prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Acting on a wide range of insolvency litigation in both corporate and personal insolvency acting for claimants and defendants;
  • Asset recovery work including  acting for insolvency practitioners in relation to possession and sale of properties
  • Advising on corporate recovery and insolvency issues, dealing with a range of businesses and financial institutions, including non-traditional lenders, insolvency practitioners and borrowers;
  • Acting for investors and management on buying businesses and assets from administrators and liquidators;
  • Acting on administration of sales;
  • Review and report on documents, drafting documents and advice tailored to the client's individual needs;
  • Negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives;
  • Attending meetings and negotiations with clients and third parties;
  • Research in to new areas of law and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice and procedure;
  • Develop existing and new client business via appropriate channels including active network building, entertaining clients etc.;
  • Supervising and delegating work to trainee solicitors and paralegals as appropriate;
  • Undertaking a range of continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
     
    Required experience, skills and attributes
    Technical skills
  • The ideal candidate will have c.1-5 years PQE, gained within a specialist Corporate Recovery / Insolvency / Restructuring department;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
     
    Personal attributes
  • Ability to plan and organise effectively; adept at working to challenging and changing timescales with an urgency to move matters;
  • Excellent all round communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with both colleagues and clients;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • The ability to innovate and draw commercial solutions;
  • Enthusiastic and proactive in approach to delivering a first-class service to clients;
  • Flexible to travel to other office locations as required (Leeds and Manchester).
